Residents Invited to Register for Lebanon Area Fair Contests

July 1, 2015
What do snickerdoodles, duct tape flowers, scrapbooking, tomatoes, a Holstein cow and hydrangeas have in common?   They are all just a few examples of the hundreds of classes you could enter at the Lebanon Area Fair.

Any Pennsylvania resident, regardless of age, may exhibit at the 2015 Lebanon Area Fair, which runs July 25 through August 1. Although there are two departments reserved exclusively for youth, all other areas are open to people of any age. Exhibitors of all ages can win ribbons, prize money and coveted bragging rights. The Lebanon Area Fair invites everybody  to join in the fun and become an exhibitor.

With the exception of a few select contests, all entries must be “pre-entered” by Friday, July 3. Pre-entry is a simple process where people register for the “classes” or contests in which they wish to compete at the fair.

Some classes carry a nominal pre-entry fee, which for most non-animal classes is somewhere between $0.25 and $1.50. For most non-perishable items, the nonrefundable pre-entry fee is generally due by the July 3 pre-entry deadline. Due to Mother Nature’s unpredictability, the entry fee for farm crops, fruits, vegetables and flowers is only collected if and when the exhibit is brought to the fair in late July.

A complete list of classes, rules and the general entry form can be found in the 2015 Fair Catalog, which is also referred to as a Book or Premium List. The Fair Catalog can be found online at www.LebanonAreaFair.com or a hard copy may be found at the Fair Office located at 80 Rocherty Road in Lebanon. The Fair Secretaries can help exhibitors navigate the pre-entry process. The Fair Secretaries can be reached at 717-273-3795 or in person at the Fair Office.
