Sail the Open Seas on Your Next Family Vacation!

By Tricia Kohler, World of Magic Travel October 7, 2015
October is “National Plan a Cruise Month” and now is a great time to begin exploring options for your 2016 family vacation. If you are new to cruising, then hopefully what I’m about to share with you will answer some questions. Here are my Top 5 Cruise Lines for Families and ones you should consider for your next family vacation!

Disney Cruise Line

Just like it’s land-based theme parks, the Disney Cruise Line offers an amazing experience at sea for both kids and adults. From the moment you step onboard, the fun begins and you are immersed into deck parties, character meet and greets, Broadway style shows, classes, tours, movies, games, dining, and endless areas for play. The Disney Cruise Line offers an awesome Kids Club area called the Oceaneer Club, which has specially trained counselors and activities for different age groups. The kids will LOOOVE their time spent here, playing to their hearts' content and making new friends at sea. The Disney Cruise Line offers roomy, family-friendly staterooms to keep everyone comfortable, including a split bathroom design that makes getting ready so much easier! You can also split your vacation to do part at sea and part on land, for the ultimate Disney experience.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

I recently fell in love with this cruise line, and if you are looking for a non-Disney option, this would be my next go-to for family-friendly cruising. Offering many of the same experiences, Royal Caribbean understands the way families vacation and travel together and makes your experience at sea memorable. With amazing kids clubs and activities, you won’t want to overlook the options that Royal Caribbean offers. They also have spacious family staterooms, rock climbing walls, water slides, top-notch entertainment and areas for mom and dad to escape and enjoy some downtime. Plus, amazing dining options! They are offering some fabulous promotions right now too!!

Norwegian Cruise Lines

This line is known for its “Freestyle Cruising” which means total flexibility in how you sail- to include doing what you want, when you want. The reason behind this is they want your cruising experience to be as stress-free as possible. You are on vacation and they want you to enjoy every second of it! NCL features a youth program that includes Cirque du Soleil-style activities, arts, crafts, video games, sports and events. And…on a few ships, Nickelodeon characters make appearances.

Holland America Cruise Line

While they do not offer the big names and cutting-edge attractions, this cruise line should not be overlooked. It takes a more “simple” approach to activities at Club HAL, featuring swim parties, karaoke, pajama parties and more classic fun for the kiddos without the over the top stimulation. This is also a great cruise line for teens and features a deck on ship just for them.

Carnival Cruise Lines

The Fun Ships that offer an amazing cruise experience for a fraction of the cost. If you are on a budget but still looking for a memorable vacation, Carnival is the way to go. From awesome activities (like a ropes course onboard!) to waterslides and kids areas, you won’t know what to do first. And, Carnival has teamed up with some of the best names in dining to bring you an ultimate culinary experience. Carnival is in the process of building its amazing ship to set sail in 2016…the Carnival Vista. You do not want to miss checking this out as an option for your vacation. It’s going to be FABULOUS!

All of this sounds pretty amazing, right? I would absolutely love to answer any questions you have and help you design the most memorable 2016 vacation for your family.
