Local School Finalist for National Contest

Jackson Elementary Wants to Grant Rees' Wish of Inclusive Playground

October 15, 2014

Rees, a second-grader in the life skills class at Jackson Elementary School last year, passed away in March with a form of inoperable brain cancer. To honor his memory, his parents, Barry and Holly Parham, are working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Jackson to build an inclusive playground at the school. Because of the costs of the equipment -- estimated between $20,000 and $30,000 -- additional fundraising has been underway for months. You can read a Lebanon Daily News article about Rees and the project here.

Now, Jackson could become a step closer to the Parhams' wish, thanks to the Build a Bright Future promotion currently being run by Frigo® Cheese Heads®.

Jackson Elementary School is one of 10 national finalists to win $4,000 that would go toward the playground funding. Voting is currently underway on their facebook page and you can vote daily through Oct. 31. The top five vote getters will receive $4,000 and the other five schools will receive $1,000.
