Build a Snowman Inside and Have Indoor Snowball Fights

Hands-on House Children’s Museum of Lancaster is inviting kids of all ages – and their grown-ups – to discover the magic of the season this winter with seasonally inspired exhibit installments, drop-in activities, classes and 12 months of play with gift memberships.

Explore the interactive exhibits with rotating seasonal installments including dressing the indoor snowmen, building an igloo or having a “snowball” fight. Celebrate the holidays with drop-in activities and classes including the popular Reindeer Roundup where children join Santa’s elves and learn how to take care of pretend reindeer.

All exhibits are designed for children and parents to play and learn together and incorporate elements of science, math, health and reading development and encourage children to explore the world around them.



Drop-in Extra Fun

Families can extend the fun and learning during drop-in programs designed for adults and children to experience together. Ages 2 – 10. Included with regular Museum admission. No pre-registration required.

• Reindeer Roundup – An interactive experience teaches kids how Santa and his team get their (pretend) reindeer ready for their big day! No elf experience necessary. December 2, 9, 13, 14, 18, 19, 21, various times

Winter Classes

Hands-on activities in a small group setting geared for 3-6 year olds led by experienced museum educators. $12 for members or $15 for nonmembers. Pre-registration required.

• Graham Cracker Express – A fun twist on the classic gingerbread house, build an edible train out of graham crackers and other tasty treats. December 4, 5, 7, various times

• Countdown to Christmas – Decorate a t-shirt to show your holiday spirit. December 11 & 12, various times

• Ho, Ho, Ho! – Join Santa’s elves for a day of fun and holiday themed activities. December 16 & 17, various times

What’s better than 12 days of Christmas? Twelve months of play! A family membership is $89 and includes:

Hands-on House, Children's Museum of Lancaster is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young minds through play. The museum is designed to allow adults and children to play and learn together. All exhibits and classes include interactive play and participatory activities geared toward children ages two through 10 years old.

The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the museum is $8.50 for adults and children.
