Lebanon YMCA Skate Park Re-Opens

Skate Park Offers Safe Haven for Local Teens

August 1, 2012

The Lebanon YMCA recently re-opened the Skate Park located behind its building after being closed for several months to make repairs at the complex.

The skate park, which first opened in 2006, is free to all members of the community, including roller bladers, skateboarders and bikers. However, all participants (age 17 and under) must have a signed parental consent form. Parents must accompany their children to the park to sign the form in person.

To increase safety, helmets are mandatory for everyone.

The Skate Park is open now through October 13. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday from 12-6 p.m, weather-pending. If the weather looks iffy, you can contact the YMCA at 717-273-2691 or check their facebook page to confirm if the skate park is open.

The YMCA is also currently fundraising for a project to convert to a concrete skate park. One of the key reasons for the upgrade is that some of the current equipment has metal components, so that when temperatures soar above 90 degrees, as it has much of the summer, those pieces of equipment have to be closed to avoid any burns to riders who may come in contact with the surface.
