Review From the Road: Storybook Land

Perfect Park For Young Kids

May 15, 2014

Disclosure: I was provided four complimentary tickets to facilitate this review. But, as always, all opinions expressed are my own.

As a mom, I love sharing experiences, items and memories from my childhood with my own children. I get that sentimental feeling from my own mom. Recently, we visited with my family in South Jersey and we took advantage of the beautiful weather to spend a day at Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township (on the way to several of the beach towns!).

If you haven't heard of it before, Storybook Land is just what it's title implies - a place where your favorite children's stories and nursery rhymes comes to life. Family-owned and operated, the park has 14 rides designed for children up to age 8. By far, the favorites of my kiddos are Bubbles the Coaster and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Mixed throughout the rides are attractions relating to nursery rhymes and stories, like a real lamb for Mary Had a Little Lamb, small houses with scenes from Snow White and Sleeping Beauty and a very fun maze from Alice in Wonderland.

There is a Dining Depot that has tables inside where you can purchase lunch items like hot dogs, hamburgers and other kid-friendly food. Prices are very reasonable for an amusement park and it tasted great, which meant my kids could dig into their homemade brownie they picked out for a treat at the counter! My kids also enjoyed watching the electric trains run along the ceiling during lunch.

If you choose to pack your own food, there are picnic tables available, too.

Other important items that always rate high on my scale are: plenty of benches for parents and grandparents to watch the kids on the rides; multiple, clean restrooms; and a flat, paved path easy for pushing strollers.

Admission to Storybook Land is $23.50 for ages 2-64, $20.50 for senior citizens, and under age 2 is FREE. They also offer a discount to all active and retired military - $20.50 for everyone in their family. I do wish there was a lower rate for non-riders, but considering the high price of many amusement parks, Storybook Land is still a very affordable day for families.

If you're visiting one of the New Jersey beaches this summer, consider a stop at Storybook Land, located along Route 322 in Egg Harbor Township. Or, visit them for one of their special events during the fall or holidays. We first took the kids during a fall weekend and they loved the hayride and special fall-themed activities, especially the corn maze!
