Kindermusik and Music Lessons Available at LVC

The Community Music Institute at Lebanon Valley College Starts Spring Semester

By Community Music Institute January 22, 2014

The Community Music Institute at Lebanon Valley College is excited to be starting their Spring semester. We offer a wide spectrum of pre-school class music curricula for children starting about 6 months to 7 years old.

The Kindermusik program emphasizes the love of making music, listening to music and learning music. It is not a performance-oriented program, rather a participation-oriented adventure with emphasis on instrument exploration, voice exploration and rhythm exploration. Class size is small and for the youngest students, adults -- either parents, grandparents, nannies -- join in the fun.

For our older children, there is initial class time alone with the teacher and then the adults (the drivers) come into the class and participate in group sharing musical activities. Classes are held here at Lebanon Valley College and at a satellite location in Schaefferstown, at St. Luke Church. All our teachers are licensed and have their Pennsylvania and FBI clearances.

Another aspect of the Community Music Institute is a complete offering of private instrumental and vocal lessons. Our students in this division range in age from about 7 to 80. We offer lessons in guitar, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, flute, French Horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, piano, percussion, violin, viola, cello, bass, voice and organ.

We have also recently started a community orchestra for students of an advanced beginner to advanced, either CMI students, community students, or adults. The Director is Dalinda Bohr and the mission is to enhance the ensemble playing experience. It is a non-audition orchestra, non-chaired. The joy of making music together carries the ensemble experience.
