As Children's Dental Health Month approaches in February, I wanted to share with you information about Welsh Mountain Health Centers, a non-profit organization I recently learned about that helps families in our area.
Welsh Mountain Health Centers has been serving families in the Lancaster area for over 40 years before expanding into Lebanon County thanks to state funding.
Lebanon Ridge Oral Health opened a full-service dental clinic in Lebanon last July that provides dental service needs for adults and children. As part of the PA oral health initiative, the clinic recommends that children see a dentist starting at one year of age. Good oral health at a young age can prevent future difficulties and lead to a positive experience with the dentist.
Lebanon Ridge Oral Health is located at 101 S. 9th Street in Lebanon and can be reached at 717-450-7015. They accept state insurances and most private insurance plans. For patients with no dental coverage, a slide fee program is offered based on family size and income. If they qualify, it gives the patient a discount on dental services provided.
In addition, Welsh Mountain Health Centers has a newly launched dental outreach program entitled “Smiles of Joy.” This program utilizes a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner and portable dental hygiene equipment to travel to various facilities within Lebanon County to bring dental hygiene services directly to the community. Some of the current outreach partners to receive care are Jubilee Ministries, Lebanon Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, WIC and low-income housing communities.
The outreach program also has office hours at Lebanon Ridge Community Health, which is a medical facility of Welsh Mountain Health Centers. They offer dental hygiene services to medical patients being seen at that office. They accept all state insurances and most private insurance plans. There is a discount fee program for patients with no dental insurance coverage. It is located at 840 Norman Drive in Lebanon.
