Review from the Road: Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

October 14, 2015

We made the most of our four-day Columbus Day holiday and the beautiful weather by enjoying a family fun day at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. If you're looking for a place to make amazing memories and wear out the kids so they'll sleep like a rock, Cherry Crest is it.

We started our day with the corn maze, which is where I knew we would spend the most time. I was relieved to find out that they had different difficulty levels that allows everyone regardless of age or ability to enjoy the fun. Two years ago when we visited, we chose the easy option that can be completed in about 15 minutes.

Now that my children are 7 and 5, we bumped up the difficulty level by choosing the intermediate option that took us about an hour to complete. We took a flag along just in case we ran into trouble, but instead, we discovered tons of fun!

There is also the ultimate challenge, which would be great for older teens who are looking for a fun night out.

Along with the maze, there are dozens of fun activities for kids -- and adults (we took my parents and they loved it, too!). Cherry Crest is split into two primary areas, the Barnyard and the Courtyard.

The Courtyard is closer to the main entrance and home to the Maze and Petting Zoo with sheep, goats, pigs and other animals. This area is also where you can hold a baby chick, something both of my kids loved. Pedal Karts, a wagon ride and a wagon tour all reside in the Courtyard area as well, plus a variety of food.

Make sure to save some energy for the Barnyard which included my Minis' favorites -- the giant inflatable pillow bounce, and the Straw Bale Racer and Giant Hay Chute slides. Even Grandmas can get in on the sliding action!

A giant slingshot and a variety of sports activities are in the Barnyard, too!

What I've highlighted here is just the tip of the offerings for family fun at Cherry Crest. We spent about four hours there, but you can easily spend the whole day.

Cherry Crest is open through Nov. 7, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with flashlight maze quests available. Admission rates are $17 weekdays, $20 on Saturdays, and $14 for twilight (6-10 p.m.). Children under three are free.

I recommend checking their website, and keeping up with them on facebook (they aren't open during inclement weather). Don't miss their upcoming Pumpkin Madness on Oct. 31!

Note, Cherry Crest is also a short five-minute drive from Strasburg Rail Road and has plenty of free and convenient parking. You can even take the train from the station and disembark at Cherry Crest to play before returning by train to Strasburg.

Disclosure: My family received complimentary admission to facilitate this review.  However, all opinions expressed are my own.
