Review from the Road: Girls' Weekend in Cape Cod

July 17, 2018

One of my favorite traditions that I look forward to each spring is an annual girls' weekend trip with my best friends from college. This year marked 20 years that we have known each other, and we decided to venture out for a weekend on the Cape. It was a fabulous weekend of relaxing on the beach, enjoying some great food and drinks, and reliving our favorite memories.

Our trip planning started out with deciding what town we wanted to stay in as Cape Cod has plenty of options, some catering to families, and others that offer more for couples and groups of friends. We settled on Truro, which is out near the end of the Cape, and found an amazing house via AirBnB. The house was less than a 10-minute walk to Great Hollow Beach, which was nearly empty when we went in early June ahead of peak season.

Not only was the beach trip a great way to kick off the weekend, but it's also where we got the scoop on The Lobster Pot, a fantastic restaurant in neighboring Provincetown. We visited here twice, once for dinner (don't miss the lobster ravioli!), and once just for drinks. Both times it was worth waiting for seats upstairs in what they call "the top of the pot." The Canteen is another great spot if you want to enjoy a snack or a drink in a beach setting.

We enjoyed spending the evenings wandering the shops in Provincetown, who had everything from traditional beach gear, taffy/candy stores, ice cream shops, and more. From our rental in Truro to Provincetown, was a quick 10-15 minute Uber ride away.

Another spot we visited during our trip is the famed Beachcomber (a former lifesaving station) in Wellfleet, sitting on the beach and eating a delicious lunch in the restaurant. Be warned though, this hill down to the beach is every bit as big as it looks!
