Review From the Road: Seelbach Hilton Louisville

August 16, 2021

Looking for an adults-only weekend? Consider Louisville, Kentucky!

We recently returned from a long weekend with friends where we sampled bourbon, caught a minor league baseball game, and visited several of the downtown restaurants.

The Seelbach Hilton was the perfect place to allow us to easily experience all that Louisville and Bourbon County had to offer. This historic hotel boasts a rich history with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Al Capone, and more stories.

The Seelbach has a stunning lobby (one of the most pictured in the city!), The Old Seelbach Bar featuring an expansive bourbon selection, and luxurious guest rooms.

The hotel is located just across the street from Fourth Street Live, an entertainment area that features bars, restaurants, and live music performances. While we were there, we caught a country music concert, enjoyed craft beers at Gordon Biersch, and checked out the bowling and outdoor games at the Sports & Social Club.

We'd recommend other downtown restaurants, including Wild Eggs for breakfast/brunch (definitely make a reservation!), Mussel & Burger Bar, and Troll Pub Under the Bridge. We also took in a Louisville Bats minor league baseball game with fireworks. Angel's Envy Distillery was our favorite downtown experience.

Beyond Louisville

A big part of the reason we chose Louisville was to visit the numerous distilleries around Bourbon County. Here are some of the ones we visited and would recommend for your trip!

Three Farm Boys Distillery

Woodford Reserve

Stitzel-Weller Distillery

Wild Turkey

If you're visiting Wild Turkey, we recommend Heavens to Betsy Bakery & Deli as a perfect lunch spot!
