New for Feb.: Short Film on Hershey’s Italian-American HeritageReturning: Truffles for Couples” Evening Chocolate Lab Classes

 

            HERSHEY, Pa. – Jan. 20, 2022 – Guests who visit The Hershey Story Museum during February can enjoy $7 admission to the Museum Experience as part of the museum’s “Cheers to Chocolate” promotion, which runs from Tuesday, Feb. 1, through Monday, Feb. 28, 2022. To receive the discount, visitors will be required to say “Cheers” at the admissions desk when they purchase their tickets to the Museum Experience. In addition, all guests will receive a sampling of Hershey’s Kisses, compliments of The Hershey Company.  


            February’s events at The Hershey Story also include “Truffles for Couples,” evening Chocolate Lab classes.  

 

As a special offering in February, guests can learn about the history of Italian-Americans in Hershey via a 20-minute documentary, which is playing in the Museum Experience all month long. Details on the documentary, “Truffles for Couples” and daytime Chocolate Lab classes are listed below.


Documentary “Gioia e Solidarietá”

Daily in Feb.  in the Museum Experience

“Gioia e Solidarietá” takes a look at the 100-year history and legacy of Italian-Americans in Hershey, Pa. Produced by filmmaker and Hershey resident Michael Accorsi, the 20-minute short combines family films and interviews with long-time Italian-American residents of Hershey, who tell the poignant story of the town’s close-knit Italian community, its struggles and achievements. Included in admission.


Truffles for Couples

Evening Chocolate Lab Class                              

Feb. 12 and 19, 2022                                                            

5:45 – 7 p.m. and 7:45 – 9 p.m.

Guests will begin the evening by tasting warm drinking chocolates from around the world, followed by a special one-hour truffle-making class in the Chocolate Lab. Class participants will hand-roll dark chocolate ganache, coat it in milk or white chocolate, then finish their handmade creations with toppings. Each guest will package their truffles in a decorative box, receive a personalized candy bar and a long-stemmed red rose. Participants will also learn about the courtship and marriage of Milton and Catherine Hershey as well as how chocolate is grown and processed. This class is most suitable for adults; minimum age is 15. Due to COVID-19 regulations, all the participants must wear a mask during the class. Please note that up to two couples will be assigned to the same table. Space is limited to 24 participants per session. $60 per couple. Online registration required at HersheyStory.org.

 

Daytime Chocolate Lab Classes in Feb.

Daily Chocolate Lab classes are 45 minutes. Guests learn about chocolate and make their own chocolate treat. Chocolate Lab tickets are available on a first come – first served basis and may be purchased in advance online or at The Hershey Story admissions desk on the day of the class. Space is limited. Children must be at least 5 years old to enter the Lab. Visit HersheyStory.org for a complete class schedule.  

 

February class themes are as follows:

 

The Heart of Chocolate

Guests design a heart-shaped confection with colored white chocolate while learning how chocolate is grown and processed. Participants also learn how Milton Hershey’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to create one of the world’s greatest chocolate businesses.

 

Lovely Bar                                                         

Participants will mold their own chocolate bar and then top it off with Valentine-themed sprinkles. Plus, participants will learn how cocoa beans are transformed into their favorite chocolate confections.

 

Try It with Truffles

Guests make dark chocolate ganache truffles while learning about the courtship of Milton and Catherine Hershey.
