HERSHEY GARDENS TO HOST HOMESCHOOL DAY ON TUESDAY, MARCH 22

“Gardening 101”

 

HERSHEY, Pa. - - March 8, 2022 - - Gardening and composting basics will be the focus of Homeschool Day, being held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hershey Gardens, 170 Hotel Road, Hershey, Pa.


 Titled “Gardening 101,” Homeschool Day will teach youngsters the basics of seed packet identification, perennials versus annuals, hardiness zones and the importance of composting and more. Hands-on activities include seed planting, measuring soil temperature and touching different types of soil to assess texture. Students will also start warm weather vegetables in a jug to take home.


Homeschool Day is open to homeschoolers and their families, as well as to families whose children are learning virtually from home; $8 per student ages 3 and up and $9 per adult. Children ages 2 and under are free and do not need a ticket. The Butterfly Atrium is included in admission.


To register/purchase tickets, please visit HersheyGardens.org and click on the “Education" dropdown tab, then on the "Homeschool" tab. Advance registration is required and closes at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022.


Families are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 a.m. Homeschool Day will be held rain or shine; picnic tables are available for packed lunches.
