HERSHEY GARDENS TO OFFER HOMESCHOOL DAY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 19

“Who’s Who in Horticulture”

HERSHEY, Pa. - - March 31, 2022 - - The wide range of careers in the field of gardening and horticulture are the focus of Homeschool Day, being held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hershey Gardens, 170 Hotel Road, Hershey, Pa.


Titled “Who’s Who in Horticulture,” the event will feature “green collar” industry experts who will introduce homeschoolers to horticulture and all the possibilities an individual can pursue in that field, such as growing plants, landscaping and hybridization. In addition to holding interactive discussions, professionals will also be providing demonstrations, activities and crafts.  


Hershey Gardens’ manager of conservatory habitats, Jody Davey, will be discussing the interiorscaping profession, and the following organizations and professionals are also slated to attend:


·         Lavender Brook Farm

·         Stuart Kendig, daylily hybridizer

·         Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association

·         Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center

·         Michelle Wohlfarth, landscaping expert


Homeschool Day is suitable for elementary and middle school-age children and their families; $8 per student ages 3 and up and $9 per adult. Children age 2 and under are free and do not need a ticket. The Butterfly Atrium is included in admission.


To register/purchase tickets, please visit HersheyGardens.org and click on the “Education" dropdown tab, then on the "Homeschool" tab. Advance registration is required and closes at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022.


Families are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 a.m. Homeschool Day will be held rain or shine; picnic tables are available for packed lunches.
