My kids got to see their favorite characters live in action during Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove at Sovereign Center last night. Just like all things Disney, the show was nothing short of spectacular.
For my kids (age 2 and 4), the show got off to an unfamiliar start with an opening routine by The Incredibles and then Alice in Wonderland as the first featured movie. My kids hadn't seen either of those movies, but still enjoyed the energetic music from The Incredibles which had kids dancing and moving in the aisles. In my opinion, Alice in Wonderland was the least impressive of the movie features, but more so because the others were so good with fun effects.
From there, it kicked into high gear with Peter Pan. My kids were Captain Hook and Tinkerbell for Halloween, so this drew them into oohs and aahs to see their friends. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell made grand entrances (which I won't ruin for you) and the tick-tock crocodile even made a pretty big appearance much to the delight of my son.
After a short intermission, Lion King was next and as an adult, this was one of my favorites. The skating my Simba and Nala was amazing. And Scar and the hyenas also got a starring number in this part of the show.
Aladdin and his flying carpet soared above the crowd and everyone's favorite Genie also delivered some of his best lines, while Snow White and the seven dwarfs sang some of the signature songs from their movie.
Tangled and The Princess and the Frog were the final two movies featured, so if your kids love the princesses, then the end will probably be their favorite. The finale featured all of the princesses and their princes in a terrific number that excited every kid in the audience, mine included.
Oh, and of course, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck made appearances and acted as master of ceremonies for the show. What would a Disney show be without them?
Overall, running time of the show was just under two hours. The atmosphere of the arena was also very cozy for the show, since the arena was partially blocked off and the rows of seats don't go that high. Even if you are sitting in one of the top rows, your seats should still be pretty good.
If you don't have plans this weekend, I recommend giving this show a try - I'm sure the whole family will enjoy!
