Fall Craft: Handful of Leaves Wreath

By Melinda, The Missing Sock September 26, 2012
Hello Macaroni Moms! I'm so excited to be a part of this awesome newsletter. I am new to the area, and have really enjoyed exploring and getting to know Central PA. I am married and have a daughter who is almost two. When we moved six weeks ago, I transitioned from teaching third grade to being a stay-at-home-mom. I have always loved crafts of all kinds and look forward to sharing them with you periodically. I hope you enjoy! -Melinda

Around The Missing Sock household fall is our favorite season. We love the cool crisp air, the colorful leaves, the fresh breeze, living with the windows open, and most of all the fall holidays. Since the first day of fall is right around the corner (literally, it’s tomorrow) I thought we might make Fall a little welcome wreath.

Materials:

I took out a bunch of stuff, but didn’t wind up using it all. The essentials are as follows: construction paper in fall colors (I used 1sheet each of yellow, orange, red, green and brown) one sheet of black construction paper, white crayon, glue and glue sticks, ribbon, scissors, and a cute hand to trace! If your little one is as eager as mine, you might need to bring your patience!

Instructions:

1. First we traced Peanut’s hand as many times as we could on one sheet of construction paper.

2. Then we stacked all of the colored paper together, and cut through all of the sheets at once. It gave us a bunch of colorful hand prints.

3. We took our black piece of paper and cut it into a big circle like shape. This doesn’t have to be perfect, it just serves as a guide to place your hand prints.

4. Peanut and I glued her hand prints every which way and our little wreath started to take shape. She was able to help most with this part, and I must say she did a great job!

5. I cut two strands of each color of ribbon (red, green, orange, yellow) and tied them in a little bow. Peanut squeezed some glue out for me, and helped me paste it down on the top of the wreath.

6. We wrote Fall a little welcome note.

Then we hung our masterpiece on our door!
