Family Fishing Fun at Limestone Spring Preserve

Great For Beginners and Seasoned Fishermen

March 27, 2013
With the arrival of spring, soon follows the beginning of trout season here in Pennsylvania. Limestone Springs Preserve in Richland is a great place to teach your Mini Macaronis about fishing.

The preserve is stocked with beautiful rainbow trout and open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They have a knowledgable and friendly staff that can assist any skill-level of fisherman from beginner to expert. Visitors to the preserve do not need to have a fishing license.

Limestone Springs hosts special events throughout the year, including several family-friendly activities for kids like a Young Angler's Rodeo, Father's Day outing and Fly Fish Day with Bass Pro Shops.

"Our fishing preserve is great for kids because it's easier and more fun to catch rainbow trout than it is on the public streams," said Jacqui Shipley, manager of the preserve. "Also, with our cleaning services available year round, families can come in, catch lots of delicious, healthy trout, and take home fillets that are ready to throw right in the pan."

As an added safety measure, the preserve has its fish tested regularly for lead, mercury and pcbs, always with negative results. This means that there is no limit to the number of our rainbow trout that people can enjoy.
