Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk Coming to Lebanon

April 16, 2014
Families like Lebanon's Marie and James Andersen will be walking for a cure as part of the annual Great Strides walk that benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Marie and James became involved with the event when their son Carl was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in January 2012. Her family started walking that same year, and then her sister joined the event's planning committee and their team grew even more last year.

This year, they're asking for others to join them for the Great Strides event on Saturday, May 3 at South Hills Park in Lebanon. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Whether you come as an individual, as a family, with friends, or as a group with teammates or co-workers, every person puts the Foundation one step closer to its goal -- to cure CF. Walkers who raise at least $100 receive a t-shirt and those who raise at least $500 are recognized as Super Striders and receive a prize.

If you can't make the walk on May 3, you can still help by making a donation. Volunteers are also needed for the event.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening genetic disease that affects 30,000 children and adults in the United States, and 70,000 people worldwide. The Foundation’s mission is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for people living with the disease.  The Foundation accomplishes this by funding life-saving research and working to provide access to quality care and effective therapies for people with CF.

Great Strides walks are the largest fundraiser for the CF Foundation. Over 600 walks take place across the country as communities come together to show their support.
