Five Tips For Planning the Ultimate Family Vacation

By Tricia Kohler, World of Magic Travel April 29, 2015
Planning a family vacation is a very exciting time, but, it can also become quite overwhelming as you quickly realize the world is a super big place and there is lots to see and do! So how do you go about planning a great vacation for your family?

Well, that’s why I’m here to help you out! While I specialize in Disney vacations, I also can help you plan a vacation to just about anywhere in the world- whether it be Disney, a cruise, or on a tropical island at an all-inclusive resort.

The first step, and probably the hardest, is to decide where you want to go and when.

Do you want to stay close to home or travel to a far off place? Do you like mountains, lakes, beaches, or palm trees? Are you looking for adventure or looking to relax? Is your destination kid-friendly? Which time of year would you like to travel? Once you think about what you’d like to accomplish on your vacation, the rest will easily fall into place.

The next step is to decide how you want to get there.

Is your destination within driving distance or would you like to take a train or fly? I’m able to help you price out all the options to make sure you are getting to your final destination economically.

After you have your destination and transportation figured out, it is time to officially book your trip because let’s face it…many other families are probably thinking the same as you!

Summer is a very popular time for families to travel because the kids are out of school. So the sooner you book your trip, the more you can potentially save and the higher your chance of actually being able to make that vacation you’ve dreamed about a reality since availability will be higher!!

So your trip is booked and all the hard work is done. Now for the fun part!

I always encourage families to have a “family meeting” where they sit down and talk about what they would like to do on vacation.

Getting input from everyone and scheduling things that everyone wants to do will make for happy family members on vacation.

Finally, as your vacation approaches, be sure check for updates on your destination through social media, blogs and destination websites.

The more you know in advance for your trip, the better prepared you will be. And always check the weather before you start packing! That way you will be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at you. But, hopefully that will be abundant sunshine and perfect weather!!!

I would love to help you and your family book your family vacation, no matter what time of year it may fall. As a Travel Magician with World of Magic Travel, family vacation planning is what I love as I know how much my family loves to travel.
