Now that most of our kids have gone back to school this week (except for those lucky ones in Lebanon!), it's a sure sign that summer is winding down and fall will soon be here. There are so many things to love about fall - cooler weater, changing leaves and football games - but this week, I wanted to talk about a great fall activity - corn mazes!
Here in Lebanon County, we're lucky enough to have three corn mazes to challenge us all season long. Risser-Marvel Farm Market along Route 322 in Annville and Sycamore Spring Orchard in Jonestown both open their mazes to the public over the holiday weekend.
Risser-Marvel will welcome guests to its Outback Adventure, kangaroo-themed maze, starting Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Labor Day Monday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Last entry is one hour before closing. Additional activities include trike track, hayride, cornbox and smaller finger fun maze. Prices are $7.50 for age 13 and up, and $5.50 for ages 4-12. Learn more about the corn maze and their upcoming Family Fun Saturdays on their website.
Sycamore Spring Orchard is a great place to take the kids for apple picking, and they also offer fun private bonfires and hayrides for groups. The orchard also features a fun corn maze that will be open this weekend, Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $6 per person and includes a drink or small ice cream when you finish the maze.
Finally, Seyfert's Corn Maze in Myerstown is scheduled to open the weekend of Sept. 21. Admission to the maze also includes a free hayride, and prices are ages 10 and up, $8, and age 9 and under, $3. Hayrides are also available without the maze for $3. Visit their website for operating hours.
